Day 30 - Tuesday 4 May - Rome to Athens

Left for Athens -picked up from hotel at 7.45 - Graham thought he was still driving and got into the drivers side - much to the amusement of the driver and the other passengers!

Good flight to Athens and smooth transfer at the airport to the hotel - Miss Diana (from Fantasy Travel - the BEST travel agency in Greece!!!) met us with all our tickets and strict instructions not to lose any - some early morning starts…..

The hotel room is very small but since we are only here three days and we expect to be out of it most of the time, it will do - the rooftop bar was not in operation so we took a bottle of wine up there and sat and watched the Parthenon light up as the sun went down - very beautiful.
This little church was right outside our window - it was part of a school, we discovered next day - the Acropolis is in the distance
That's the Parthenon we can see from our window - fantastic.....
We went to the rooftop to watch the sun go down - too early in the season for the bar to be open - was going to open 'any day now' - never did in the three weeks we visited the hotel........
The view was great - the little white houses went all the way up to the top of the hill in the distance - over the hill is Corinth
everything was very crowded and one could imagine it would be too hot in the middle of summer, but this month it was fine
We caught the colours of the sunset......
 was very beautiful....
seemed to grow more luminous as the light changed
Until it was lit from below and all around - lovely.
