Mojitos and a shared meat plate for lunch at Yopias again - very nice then back for a snooze in the hotel before Graham took a bottle to the roof top and met up with an English couple. The chairs and tables have been set up on the rooftop bar but as yet, no service….
So.... we wanted to be up there where the flag is, but this wasn't the way......
Views into the theatre from the Acropolis... and of course the obligatory school chidren!
as we ascended the steps... the marble was very slippery and the place was crawling with people
Apart from the people, one of the better views - as you get closer the scaffolding is more obvious - it has been a work in progress for more than 10 years
They are trying to restore it to its former glory - previous attempts have been botched. The wheels move very slowly but they are determined to do it properly this time
We had to be careful where we sat to take a photo - we watched one man being told to delete a photo he had taken by stepping over a barricade to get a better view... the workers on the site were actually quite aggressive
It certainly was an acropolis!
We wandered back to have lunch via the Roman Agora - a little bit more rundown - until we came across a restored stoa (Graham informs me this was an undercover marketplace)
It was beautifully restored
and at least 10 degrees cooler underneath it.... a welcome respite from the heat.
